Hustler Sweet Sweetback (Melvin Van Peebles) sees two cops beating up a black revolutionary. He takes revenge by killing the cops, but is then forced to go on the run. Sweetback uses all his streetwise skills to stay one step ahead of his police pursuers as he makes his way to the safe haven of Mexico.
