An adventurous and anarchic American woman named Lane drives her friend Christina to an interview with a novelist in suburban New Zealand. Lane crashes the car, putting Christina in hospital with brain damage. When Lane decides to keep Christina’s appointment, she brings confusion and sexual tension to the household of the novelist and his 15 year-old daughter.
