Sunao Katabuchi writes and directs this feature-length anime based on the manga by Fumiyo Kono. Set in Hiroshima during World War II, 18-year-old Suzu (voice of Rena Nounen) is newly married and finds herself with a hungry family to feed. Despite the strict rations placed on them, Suzu must fight to survive and provide for her family, but when she is accused of being a spy her priorities change from finding food to proving her innocence. The voice cast includes Megumi Han, Yoshimasa Hosoya and Natsuki Inaba.
